Riding around Amsterdam?
Moderators:JJ, Beheerders
Hello. I moved to Amsterdam from New Zealand about a year ago and have finally got my SS (MTB) sent over.
Has anybody got any recommendations for riding in/around Amsterdam?
Are there any groups/clubs that go out riding on the weekends?
Cheers.

Poor you!
You should have stayed there!! Anyway, I'm not from that area, but if you have a car we can meet and do some riding on 'de Utrechtse heuvelrug' or in the Anrhem area.
We do meetings on a regular basis and most of the times there are some singlespeeders around.
Keep an eye on this forum for meetings.
JJ
P.S. Closest good riding for you is the Schoorl track

Hi
you might enjoy checking out the course in Spaarwoude, about the same spot as where Dance Valley festival is in the summer, I dont know if its any good but it sure is closer than Schoorl, it used to be a national championships location and its close to amsterdam so you can go by bike if you like.
see you around

Don't forget abut the smell. It is literally made upon a garbage dump.Elevation12,000 schreef:Sorry, I don't want to make it to confusing, but:
- consider that as the Schoorl trail is located in the dunes sandy conditions spoil the fun a bit in summer. Currently it is highly recommendable!
- Spaarnewoude s*cks all year round, due to poor scenery. Just my 2cts
Schoorl is about an hour from Amsterdam, nice track of abot 14 km's. I ride there a lot.
I don't know where I read it, but it was a an article about a ±60 km track around amsterdam; off road.
Through Harours West etc. the pic with the article however showed some bikers riding next to a busy road in the area of Ruigrok(harbours west).
It didn't look very exciting I must say.
Schoorl is probably you best/closest option. Or the Utrechtse Heuvelrug(Amerongen). Schoorl is definitly in a better shape this time of the year.
